Returning for the 3rd time, the highly anticipated Four Seasons Resorts Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy 2013 is set to start from the 26th of august to 2nd September 2013. This internationally acclaimed event with a winning prize of USD 25,000 to the champion is set to feature six ex-world champions. The surfing competition which is recognized as the most luxurious surfing event in the world has three main divisions of surfboard: retro single-fins, twin-fins and contemporary triple-fin thrusters
This year’s event is also hyped due to the return of Australian surfing legend and two-time world champion, Damien “Dooma” Hardman (Narrabeen, New South Wales, Austrailia). Hardman has admitted he was thrilled at the prospect of returning to the Four Season’s property of Kuda Hura not only for surfing but also due to its luxurious surrounding. He was quoted as commenting that his wife is as excited as him about returning to beautiful holiday destination.
This even is organized in conjunction with luxury surf pioneers Tropicsurf of Noosa, Asutrailia and will one again feature a domestic Four Seasons Maldives Trophy. This showcase would feature local Maldivians battling it out for the national champion’s title with a prize money worth 25,000 MVR. Both of the Surfing Champions and Domestic Champion events competitors would be hosted aboard the luxury Four Seasons Explorer surf vessel. At night you can expect all of the competitors, judges and spectators to mingle about at the Kuda Huraa Four Seasons Resorts beach for cocktails and dinner.
Event Coordinator Mark Winson of Tropicsurf, commenting on the year’s competition was quoted as expecting this years event to be the best one yet.
